Plan stages and their order

Stages describe a project’s phases. Their status is managed explicitly, independently of task completion.

These steps refer to controls inside the Mac app, not this website. Guide source: 1.0.0 (128).

  1. Add or inspect a stage

Open the project’s Stages tab. Select New Stage, enter a name and review the status and dates, then Save. To change an existing stage, select it and click Edit…. Select stage rows to view their linked tasks.

  2. Reorder the plan

Drag stages within the stage list into the desired sequence. Review the portfolio’s Timeline after assigning dates. Ordering a stage does not calculate dates, shift other stages automatically or create a dependency-based Gantt schedule.

  3. Update status as work progresses

Use Activate when a phase starts, Mark Done when it finishes, or Reset to Pending to reopen the plan. Task status and stage status are separate controls, so review both rather than assuming one automatically changes the other.

  4. Place tasks and components

Choose a stage in each task’s Placement section or a component’s editor and Save. To remove a stage, use its action menu and read the confirmation: assigned tasks are kept and become unassigned from that stage. Project files are not removed.
