Track & review

Track time and review the time ledger

Use one timer across the app, or enter time manually. Saved entries drive labour cost and timesheet reports.

These steps refer to controls inside the Mac app, not this website. Guide source: 1.0.0 (128).

  1. Start at the right level

Open a project and click Start Timer (⌘T) for project-only time, or open a task and click Start Task Timer for task-linked time. Starting another timer first stops and saves the existing one. Archived projects cannot start timers.

  2. Pause, resume and stop

Use the project toolbar’s pause/resume control (⌘T while that project’s timer is active). Stop Timer (⇧⌘T) saves the elapsed work. The menu bar timer provides access while working in another app. Paused periods are excluded; closing the main window is not the same as stopping the timer.

  3. Handle idle time deliberately

After an idle period, choose Keep the time, Discard idle time or Stop at idle start. Keep includes that span; discard removes it; stopping ends the timer at the start of inactivity. Review the resulting ledger entry, especially after sleep, long breaks or relaunch.

  4. Enter or correct time manually

Open the right project, use Log Time (⌘L), and choose the day, optional task, duration in minutes and note. In the project’s Time tab, click an entry to edit it or use its ellipsis action menu to delete it. Review task-linked entries when checking estimates and remaining effort.

  5. Confirm the save and export

After stopping, verify the entry in Time. If a save warning appears, choose Retry Save. A queued timer entry is retained for retry; Discard permanently abandons that unsaved entry. Open Reports for Timesheet CSV or Summary CSV over your chosen date range.
